More about me
I am 47 years old and live in South East London with my wife and two teenage children.
I started learning the Alexander Technique to improve my co-ordination - my friends used to laugh at the way I walked. As my coordination improved I found that other activities were becoming easier - cycling and dancing for example, and even simple things involving manual dexterity.
Like many other Alexander pupils I was surprised to find that the benefits were as much mental as physical. I felt good about myself, I started to look people in the eye for the first time and my wife said that I was easier to live with. I found that I had more choices, that I was able to respond to life rather than react to it.
I decided to train to become a teacher of the Technique, and undertook a 3 year full time course. I have been teaching the Alexander Technique since I qualified in 1993.
In 2001 I founded the South Bank Alexander Centre in Blackfriars Rd, London SE1.
Since 2002 I have taught a series of professional development classes for Alexander Technique teachers at Kensington Alexander in Washington DC, and workshops for performance students in Philadelphia. I have also taught professional development classes for Alexander Technique teachers at international conferences in Europe and the USA.
I am a sponsoring member of Alexander Technique International, and for three years sat on the Council of STAT, the recognised UK professional body.
