Alexander Technique Teacher Training - part-time.

Evenings and weekends in central London.

We meet one weekend per month, and most Tuesday evenings, at the South Bank Alexander Technique Centre, close to Southwark and Waterloo.

We also have a five-day residential in the countryside near Bordeaux every August.

ABOUT US

I have been a “sponsor” for Alexander Technique International, evaluating trainees who would like a teaching qualification, since 2005. It is clear to me that the best new teachers are the ones that have been exposed to a wide variety of approaches to teaching Alexander’s work. For that reason I have an eclectic group of visiting teachers who come to teach on our training weekends, and sometimes on the Tuesday evenings, most of whom I fly in from overseas.
Some are members of ATI and some of STAT. Some, like me, trained with STAT but are now members of ATI.

They are

  • Galit Zeif – Israel

  • Gilles Estran – France

  • Barry Kantor – South Africa

  • Rosa Luisa Rossi – Switzerland

  • Penny O’Connor – UK

  • Fiona Cranwell – Ireland

  • Kajsa Ingemansson – Sweden

  • Cécile Rist – France

  • Corinne Cassini – USA

  • Caroline Chalk – UK

  • Jeremy Chance – Australia

MORE INFORMATION
  • Unlike STAT, where qualification is essentially quantitative, and most trainees get a certificate after 1600 hours of training, ATI’s certification process is qualitative: trainees qualify when they are ready.   Qualification leads to membership of Alexander Technique International and eligibility to join the national CNHC register of Alexander Technique teachers.

  • We are more flexible and affordable than “traditional” schools; our trainees do whatever hours they choose, and pay by the hour for the time they have done. We encourage anyone who wants a teaching certificate to come for all the hours, but some can only come when their finances allow. Others don’t want to be teachers and just come for the transformational aspects of the training – sometimes just for a few hours every month. We also have some people who are training with STAT, BodyChance and ITM who come here to get a different perspective.

COME AND VISIT US

You are welcome to come and visit us any time.
On Saturday mornings we have an “open house” session, free of charge, when there are usually a number of teachers from STAT and ATI, and occasional visitors from other professional bodies. We are always looking for people to come along for our senior trainees to get some teaching practice.

Residential near Bordeaux

The dates for the 2019 event have been finalised: 9am on Monday August 26th to 7pm on Friday 30th. We will be in Abzac, a small town to the north east of Bordeaux.
